The longest day!

Hi all

It's great to see the weather change - at last we have summer - albeit a Scottish one.  The days are longer and I have more light to sew!  I always think sewing is a winter pastime but there's nothing more relaxing than sitting in the garden doing some handsewing and listening to the birds singing.

More classes to come at Kidzeco - Saturday 26 June is Crazy Patchwork 10.00am - 2.00pm.  Cost is £15 and a kit is provided.  The participants will learn the "crazy patchwork" technique which is so addictive!  You can use this for quilts, throws, cushions, bags and it uses up all the little bits of fabric leftover from other projects.  If you enjoy this one you might like to come along to the next class on Saturday 10 July 10.00am - 1.00pm - Chunky Textiles.  The cost for this class is £10 and a kit is provided.  The participants will work with tweed and chunkier fabrics and we'll stitch and add buttons to make a stylish cushion.  Contact Lynn on 01506 633898 or pop into Kidzeco in King Street, Bathgate (next to the Wedding shop).

Hope you all have a great summer.

Bye for now!

Spring and summer arrived in one day!

Hi All

Weather is so good that I have been sewing outside.  Long may it continue!  Really excited this week as the new Notonthehighstreet summer catalgue is launched and one of my products is appearing.  It's the red "Goody Two Shoes" jewellery wrap which can be personalised.  Lovely for teenagers as a birthday gift or to commemorate a prom or graduation.  You can log onto the NOTHS website and click the tab for summer catalogue to see the virtual version or you can request a copy.

Just held the first sewing class at Kidzeco - "Sew Simple Sewing Cushion".  The ladies who attended really enjoyed their day and all went home with a completed cushion.  It was very relaxing and they all requested more classes.  Hope to run a "Crazy Patchwork" class over the summer and a "chunky textiles" class using wool and textured fabric to make a cushion.

Have just sent a parcel of my products to Flux in Leith, Edinburgh.  Lots of corsages, scented sachets, tartan hearts, mini jewellery wraps, tartan purses and standard boxed wraps.  Will have some photos on the site soon.

Off to enjoy the weather.

Bye!

Hi All

Please bear with me as the website is undergoing a few changes!   Have some new items to go on the site - "wee-cycled" products - which are my contribution to helping the environment.  Sometimes that sad piece of clothing you find at the back of the wardrobe just takes on a new life when you take it to bits and construct it into something new.  Buttons, frills, lace and ribbon are all carefully removed and stored away in the wee treasures workshop to be constructed into a beautiful swan! (or something like that).  Hope to have more corsages on sale soon - these were popular at the Morningside Craft Fair - thanks to all who came along and supported the fair on 1 May.

Bye for now!

Craft Fair and Classes

Have been busy getting ready for the Morningside Makers Market next week in Columcile Hall, Morningside, Edinburgh.  Have a selection of jewellery wraps - standard and mini - and corsages from the "wee-cycled" range.  Also available will be a selection of scented sachets and boudoir bags.  Hope to see you there!

Wee treasures products currently on sale at the Eco Craft Market at Loretto in Musselburgh run by Frugal Cool.

Latest news at Kidzeco in Bathgate - Tracy has organised a programme of classes for May.  I will be teaching a "Sew Simple Sewing Cushion" class on 22 May - how to make a useful little pincushion with a pocket for scissors from recycled fabric and embellished with buttons, beads or decorative stitching.  Pop into Kidzeco to find out more details from Tracy or email lynnwilkins@wee-treasures.co.uk.

Bye for now!

Spring is here - not!

Hi All

Just when we thought it was safe to put the woolly jumpers away - more snow.  Never mind I'm sure a good spring is on its way!

Thanks to all who came to visit my stall at the Wedding Box Wedding fair at Howden Park Centre the other week.  It was great to meet you all and good to hear the comments about "wee treasures" products.

I'll be taking photographs of the wedding jewellery wraps and mini wraps featured at the fair and putting them on my site very soon.  They will also feature on www.mimipearl.co.uk.  Teresa Dickson is the jewellery designer behind Mimipearl and I'll be featuring some of her products too.  Gorgeous jewellery, vintage boudoir bags and hairpins for the kids.

The next Craft Fair I will be attending is on 1 May at Morningside Makers Market (at Columcile Hall in Morningside).  Really looking forward to this new event and have heard that the first fair was a huge success with lots of people attending.  There will be promotional bags given away to the first 50 people through the door with assorted goodies and vouchers for the craft stalls.  Why don't you come along and see for yourself?

Just finished my first two commissioned "Memories Quilts" at Kidzeco in Bathgate.  I really enjoyed making these little quilts and will have pics on the site very soon.  My first client commissioned the quilts to be made from her little girls baby clothes and I designed one with applique hearts and one using a dress front.  They start from £20 so if you're interested pop in and see Tracy at Kidzeco next to the station in Bathgate or get in touch with Lynn at Wee Treasures by phone or email. (Details on this website).

That's all for now - come back soon!

Frugal Cool is Cool!

Hi
Just had a lovely chat over a coffee and cake with Nicky Orr from Frugal Cool.  Frugal Cool has a website which is well worth a look and Nicky is working hard to raise the profile of looking after our environment whilst networking with crafters in the Lothians.  The emphasis is on local, sustainable, ethical and recycled products and Nicky has taken delivery of several "one off" items from the wee treasures "wee cycled" range!  I'm really excited and pleased about this new development and have lots of ideas in the pipeline using recycled fabrics and trims.

The "Memories Quilts" at Kidzeco are now available for order (3 - 4 weeks delivery) and I have a few orders already in the pipeline.  Will have some photos on the site shortly.  Contact Tracy at Kidzeco or Lynn at Wee Treasures for further info.

Wedding Fair at Howden Park Centre next weekend - 21 March.  Have managed to source a lovely mirror for my stall and am finishing off a mini mannequin to be draped in pearls and corsages!  Lots of wraps, scented sachets and silk and calico patchwork wedding ring cushions on show.   See you there?

More new things!

Hi

Just joined UK Handmade - a lovely website featuring creative talent from all over the UK with lots of beautiful jewellery and other pretty items created by designers, creatives or artisans!

New products just on notonthehighstreet.com - little pink corsage and scented sachets as featured on my own website.  Have been working on "kit bags" using recycled fabric and a bit of applique (Parisien ladies!).  These are ideal for underwear or chunky jewellery as an addition to your make up and toiletries bag.  (you know all the little bits that get lost at the bottom of your bag!).  Will be featuring the kit bags on the site over the next couple of days.

KIDZ-ECO in Bathgate looking for donations of baby clothes, prams and toys.  Just drop me an email and I'll put you in touch with Tracy.

Lovely weather today - so sunny - but still pretty cold!  The snowdrops have appeared in the garden again - roll on spring!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to all you romantics out there!  Just had a lovely weekend at Mull, walking, swimming, wining and dining.  Weather was lovely - so calm and sunny even if a bit cold.  Had a trip to Tobermory which is so quaint with its colourful houses.  Back to Oban on the ferry today and home in time to get started sewing tomorrow!

Just delivered a parcel of goodies to FLUX in Edinburgh last week.  Scented sachets with "love" detail and mini jewellery wraps with heart applique (part of the "wee-cycled" range).  Lovely for Valentines or Mother's Day.  Also delivered some new stock to GREEN and PINK at The Centre in Livingston - scented sachets and large hanging hearts.

Starting to get organised for the WEDDING BOX wedding fair at the Howden Park Centre in Livingston on 21 March.  Will be taking along a range of mini wraps for the bridesmaids and flower girls, scented sachets for the bride and boxed jewellery wraps which make gorgeous gifts for any of the girls in the wedding party.  Some limited edition boudoir bags will also be available ("wee-cycled" range).

Have you heard about Frugal Cool?  Check out the website www.frugalcool.co.uk.

"Frugal Cool promotes local sustainable design, and supports the ethical work of designers and makers."

Wee Treasures will be supplying Frugal Cool with recycled products from the wee-cycled range soon - looking forward to creating some new items!

KIDZ-ECO the new shop in Bathgate town centre is now open and looking for donations of good quality children's clothes, toys and prams etc.  Open Tuesday - Saturday 10.00am - 4.00pm (next to the station).  Why don't you pop in and have a look?

February Already!

Hi all

As you can see, the site has had an update.  Some new products with more to come over the next few months.  I will be attending the WEDDING BOX Wedding Fair at Howden Park Centre in Livingston on 21 March so will have some new jewellery wraps on sale with a bridal theme.  Also some wedding ring cushions and little wraps for the mother of the bride and groom.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

Have you heard about the new venture in Bathgate to be opening soon?  It's KIDZ-ECO, a Community Interest Company, which is based in King Street, Bathgate, near the station.  Tracy (the Director of the project) is looking for nearly new children's clothes, toys and equipment to sell in the shop and there will be a resource room for mums to feed and change their babies.  Wee Treasures will have items on display as well as some other local crafters with jewellery etc.  It's really exciting as it's a first for West Lothian of this type of project.  Keep watching this space for the launch date - around a week away!

Pop back from time to time for updates on new stock and KIDZ-ECO!

Happy New 2010 to all!

Hi

Can you believe the snow??!!!  It's great when you don't have to go anywhere but not so good when the cupboards are bare and the salt cellar empty.
I must admit I am a big kid at heart and love to see the snow at Christmas.  I measured the amount on our wee table in the back garden and it is actually 12" deep!  Sad to take the decorations down but once the big tidy up is over I can get started on the new "wee treasures" range for 2010.
I have always been a great believer in recycling - even when it wasn't trendy - and as a child kept little buttons and pieces of fabric for ever.  Now I don't need an excuse for my obsession and can put all the bits and pieces I have hoarded over the years to good use.  Yes - it is the WEE TREASURES "WEE-CYCLED" Range and it will appear on this website over the next month!

Please come back from time to time and check out the new goods - I will be working hard to get the samples done and the photos taken to put on the site.

See you soon

Lynn
